Visiting Surabaya

Last holiday I went to Surabaya for a short vacation by airplane from Sukarno-Hatta Airport. I stayed  at the Garden Palace Hotel, not far from Tunjungan Plaza.

On the first day I took a sightseeing bus tour around the city. I visited Tretes, Pandaan, one of the most beautiful mountain resorts in East Java. I went swimming in the warm water there. At night I spent the night at Tanjung Hotel.

On the second day I went to Batu in the western part of Malang. The weather was fine and I enjoyed the fresh mountainous air. I bought some apples there. The next day I took a walk along Tunjungan Street and did some shopping.

I was really happy to have vacation to Surabaya and someday I want to go there again.

The Skiing Accident

One morning, exactly a month ago, I had a very terrible accident. I was not very good on skiing but I tried to deal with the bad weather.

I went to the top of a mountain on a ski lift. It was foggy. I couldn’t see very well. The snow was very icy and hard. It was too difficult for me so I decided to do a slalom very slowly. I skied from side to side. Then, some friends came. They stopped and waited for me. I told them I was frightened and they laughed and said, “Follow us. You will be OK.”

So, I followed then into the fog and we went very fast. Suddenly, they turn to the right but I couldn’t! I skied straight on! I went up a little hill, and then flew through the air, and then began to fall! I was very, very lucky! I fell into the branches of a tree. The branches were covered with snow. I lay still. I didn’t  move.

My friends came to look for me. I waited for a bout half an hour and then they saw me on the tree! They came to bottom of the tree and one of them climbed up and then reached out for me. He took my hand.

I was safe! Thank God I was alive!
